Resin Trap Filter For Mixed Bed

Resin trap filters are widely installed mixed bed ion exchange systems to purify water by removing ionic impurities.

The resin trap is a filtration device that captures and prevents resin beads from escaping the ion exchange vessels and entering downstream processes.

It is installed after the mixed bed system, usually in the outlet pipework, and functions as a safety mechanism that traps the resin particles before they can cause any damage.

Our resin trap filters consist of wedge wire profiles welded on support rods. It has continuous and uniform slots and large opening areas, which provide high filtration efficiency. It can filter water while capturing the resin beads.

These traps are used in various water treatment applications, including re verse osmosis (RO) systems, demineralization plants, and condensate polishing units.

The Role of Resin Trap Filters in Mixed Bed Systems

Mixed bed ion exchange systems utilize cation and anion resins in a single vessel, where the resins work together to remove both positive and negative ions from the water. Over time, the resin beads can degrade, break apart, or be carried away by water flow, particularly during backwashing or regeneration cycles. When this occurs, resin beads can escape and lead to:

▪ Fouling of downstream equipment

▪ Water contamination

▪ Costly maintenance and repairs

Resin trap filters provide a reliable way to prevent these issues, ensuring that resin remains within the system and that only purified water continues downstream.
