Temporary Strainers, Startup Strainers

Temporary strainers(temporary filters/startup strainers) are installed between two flanges of the piping system. They can remove larger solid impurities in the fluid, such as rags, welding rods, pipe scales, rust, etc.

Main Purpose: 

Provide protection for downstream expensive machinery and equipment (valves, pumps, instruments), stabilize the process, and ensure safe production.

Temporary strainers are designed to start up and flushing. After the system has been operating normally for some time, the temporary filter will be removed. They are often replaced with permanent filters with finer retention.

Materials of Temporary Strainers:

The material should be compatible with the fluid. Our temporary strainers are usually manufactured with high-quality stainless steel and carbon steel.

Types of Temporary Strainers

There are three types of temporary strainers: 

▪ Temporary Conical Strainer

Temporary conical strainers also called witches hat strainers are cone-shaped, hence the name.

▪ Temporary Basket Strainer

Temporary basket strainers are cylindrical elements and pellets tend to accumulate on the flat parts of the basket. Compared with conical filters, the filtration area is smaller and the pressure difference is higher.

▪ Temporary Flat Strainer

Temporary flat strainers are manufactured to fit flange connections and are usually made from perforated plates and wire mesh.
