Plastic Recycling Filtration

Plastic recycling is the processing of plastic waste into other products. Recycling can reduce dependence on landfills, conserve resources, and protect the environment from plastic pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.


Filtration is the next step in melting plastic and is critical because this is a high-tech stage that separates molten plastic from invisible foreign matter.



Filtration plays a crucial role in improving the quality and efficiency of plastic recycling.

Here are key filtration processes in plastic recycling:

▪ Separation by Size: Shredded plastic undergoes filtration based on particle size. Fine mesh screens or sieves separate smaller particles from larger ones, aiding in sorting and processing.

▪ Density Separation: Density-based filtration methods such as float-sink tanks separate plastics based on their densities. Lighter plastics float while heavier ones sink, enabling the separation of different plastic types.

▪ Chemical Filtration: Some recycling processes involve chemical treatments to break down plastics. 

▪ Water Filtration: Water is often used in cleaning and processing recycled plastics. Filtration systems remove contaminants and debris from water, reducing environmental impact and enhancing recycling efficiency.
