Resin Trap Strainer

A media/resin trap is a very simple screening device that is installed on the downstream side of your Ion Exchange/Media Filtration Plant to capture the media and resins from loss.

A resin trap strainer is a safety device used on the overflow lines of ion exchange units, high-purity water systems, and activated carbon and media filters.

In these systems, media can escape from the treatment vessel due to valve failure. It is not only the loss of expensive media but also easy damage to the whole system. Our traps provide positive protection and can be designed according to customers’ working conditions and needs.

How does a Resin Trap Strainer work?

The Resin Trap Strainer functions on a simple yet effective principle. It uses a fine mesh screen or wedge wire element to filter out particles from the fluid. The fluid passes through the screen while the solid contaminants are trapped on the surface. Over time, as the contaminants accumulate, a cake or resin builds up on the strainer element, further enhancing filtration. This mechanism makes the Resin Trap Strainer self-cleaning to some extent, as the cake helps trap even finer particles.

Benefits of resin trap strainer

Prevents expensive resin/media loss in the piping distribution system

Wedge wire structure provides increased open area and clogging resistance.

Easy cleaning by backflushing

Minimal pressure drop.

Can be designed and customized according to working conditions.
