How Does a Rotary Drum Screen Work

A rotary drum screen, also called a drum screen or rotary screen, consists of a drum body, a rotating device, a supporting device, a feeding device, a discharging device, and other parts.

The rotary drum screen is widely used for filtering and screening various industrial wastewaters, such as those from food and beverage processing, protein extraction, fruit, and vegetable processing, municipal water treatment, and pulp and paper production.

Q: How Does a Rotary Drum Screen Work?

A: The principle of operation of the rotary drum screen is to screen and filter the material through the rotation of the drum body. As the wastewater passes through, the drum’s filter cloth traps any large particles. The particles are collected in the hopper, which is then emptied periodically. The filtered water passes through the drum and is discharged cleanly.

Q: What types of rotary drum screens are available?

A: There are three types of drum screens, including wedge wire drum screens, perforated sheet drum screens, and wire mesh rotary drum screens. (Three types can be designed and customized according to the application.)
